Open modeling

Open data and open source models make energy system analysis transparent, reproducible, and accessible – and publicly funded research arguably should be public. For the German economics ministry, Neon led a consortium of DIW Berlin, TU Berlin, ETH Zurich, and Tom Brown studying open source energy modeling. We assessed the legal and technical usability of input data for European electricity system modeling, produced a structured comparison of open source power market models, and updated and extended the Open Power System Data platform, a widely used data source for research and industry.
